Hapag-Lloyd and Regional Container Lines Choose DaChan Bay Terminals for Their Newly Launched Far East-Indian Subcontinent Service

06 April 2011

DaChan Bay Terminals, the newest and first-class container terminal in West Shenzhen, is set for the maiden call of Far East-Indian subcontinent service (CIS/RCI) jointly operated by Hapag-Lloyd and Regional Container Lines (RCL). Commencing in April, the new service connects China and Korea to Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.

Hapag-Lloyd and RCL each deploy 3 ships with a carrying capacity of 2,000 TEUs for this new service.  Shippers and freight forwarders will benefit from its port coverage, reliable fixed day sailings and fast transit time between DaChan Bay and key ports in Indian Subcontinent.

Mr. Andrew Milliken, Chief Executive Officer of DaChan Bay Terminals, said: “We are glad that Hapag-Lloyd and RCL have chosen DaChan Bay to expand their business in the West Pearl River Delta (PRD), which proves the increased strategic significance of this region and recognizes the importance of DaChan Bay in supporting the market growth here.

“Besides the highest level of efficiency and expertise provided by our team of professionals, our terminal users enjoy unparalleled barge connectivity between DaChan Bay and West PRD, which lowers logistics cost.  DaChan Bay’s proximity to the manufacturing base and deployment of a full fleet of electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes also means much lower carbon emission in transporting the cargoes in and out of South China.”

The new Far East-Indian subcontinent service (CIS/RCI) provides weekly calls at DaChan Bay Terminal One every Sunday, following a port rotation of Qingdao - Xingang - Busan - Shanghai - DaChan Bay - Singapore - Colombo - Nhava Sheva - Karachi - Singapore - Qingdao.
